I highly recommend Pure Barre West Hartford. I started in January 2017 in a 6 week trial and got hooked. I have always been into lifting, spinning and boot camp type classes so I was apprehensive to try this type of workout. I was blown away at how much this has challenged me both physically and mentally.
I’m hooked! I have been going to Pure Barre for 6 weeks now and I love it. The classes really tone your body in a way that I’ve never achieved just going to the gym. It’s less cardio and more strength training, which I enjoy. The instructors are great.
Love Pure Barre West Hartford! People are always very nice and welcoming and the instructors are great at remembering your name and pushing you to do your best while also making corrections to your form which I love. My favorite instructors are Abby, Sarah, and Kristin.

The core and leg work is incredible supplementing what I am already doing…running, cycling and full body work outs. There are a wide variety of workouts creating many cross training opportunities.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
