From the reviews
I’ve been going to Pure Barre on the Upper East Side for around 3 years now and I love it! There are lots of class time options to fit my schedule. It’s been a great addition to my regular gym routine to really target smaller areas. The instructors are great and facilities are well-kept. Can’t recommend it enough!
I just took a class from Eryn, and I can't rave about it enough! It was so fun, challenging--yet achievable! She was so encouraging and gave us modifications to meet our own levels. I highly recommend you try it.
PureBarre on 2nd Ave is my HAPPY place! For the past four years, it has been the spot that makes me feel physically and mentally strong, allowing me to be the BEST version of myself as I tackle daily challenges. It reminds me to be present while the world just wants us to go, go, go!
So Love Pure Barre! I started doing it to strengthen my ankle after I broke it! I have fun, I am challenged and I have met and made deep friendships with some of the ladies! I have never been stronger and healthier in my life!!!!
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
