If you are interested enough in the Pure Barre experience to be reading this review, do yourself a huge favor and give it a try. The owners and staff at this location could not be better, welcoming and knowledgeable but not overbearing.
Pure Barre is a great workout and you feel the changes immediately. After just one week of classes I felt more toned/tightened, and firmer more lifted butt and legs. The studio is brand new, super clean, great vibes, cool merchandise and all the people are friendly.
I love the morning classes with Emily and Jenni! They are both upbeat and friendly instructors. They have classic express 7am during the week. The also have empower and define classes. My favorite is align and reform though which they don’t offer that much anymore. Music is upbeat and there is a class limit.
I highly HIGHLY recommend Pure Barre Guilford. The second I walked in for my first foundations class, I was immediately greeted by Lindsi (the new owner) and every staff member since has been extremely welcoming and provided a great experience.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
