From the reviews
I absolutely love Pure Barre Park Slope! The instructors are exceptional—professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive to every client. They pay close attention to injuries and individual limitations, offering personalized adjustments and modifications to ensure everyone can work out safely and effectively.
Thank you so much for the lessons, they were amazing! Excellent studio and location.! My mistake was visiting on a Saturday; the place was overcrowded, and the other people weren't very friendly, I'd even say aggressive. Even basic courtesy, like giving up a seat, was lacking.
I've been a member of Pure Barre Park Slope for about 18 months and it was love at first tuck. :) The instructors are top notch, the members are easy going, and the work is intense (every body according to it's abilities). It's a multi generational studio, and its membership is predominantly female.
I tried Pure Barre for the first time about three months ago through ClassPass and fell in love! Fully converted to being a member at the Park Slope studio recently, and I love that I can choose classes based on my availability during the week.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
