From the reviews
Took my first Pure Barre class and I get why everyone is obsessed! Matthew was the instructor and it was so much fun! I have no dance experience so I was definitely nervous but Matthew made me feel right at home! The environment was welcoming, the music was great, and the workout was hard!
Nice staff and instructors. This was my first experience with a Pure barre studio and the type of classes they offer. I had never taken a barre class of any kind before. Ultimately, I don't think the form of exercise is for me, but I had a lot of fun leaving my comfort zone and learning new ways to exercise.
If you haven't tried it yet, Pure Barre classes are worth your consideration! Every instructor that I have had at the downtown Ann Arbor location has been incredibly welcoming. They quickly learn your name and adjust your position during class to help you get the most out of each exercise.
I love Pure Barre! The workouts are great; low impact, high intensity, and lots of shake. Every instructor brings something different to the barre. I have really enjoyed Jade, Anna, and Leia's classes and am looking forward to trying more.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
