From the reviews
I was incredibly anxious before my first Pure Barre class. But wow, what a pleasant surprise! The environment was so welcoming and comfortable that, even though the workout was challenging, I never felt awkward or embarrassed. The instructor created such a supportive vibe, guiding me with patience and encouragement.
I initially joined Pure Barre Alamo Heights when it opened Summer of 2020 and I have been hooked ever since. I have watched several members really and truly become obsessed with Pure Barre and amazed at how strong it has made them: both mentally and physically.
Best work out in town! They have 4 different class formats, giving you plenty of options to choose from depending what your preference is. No matter what your current level is, the classes will always challenge you and you’ll notice huge improvements in your strength, balance, mood, and overall health.
From the moment I walked in I was greeted by Janella at the front desk. She knew I was coming and I felt very welcomed. I took a free foundations class with Laura and she explained every step to me. The communication at this facility is impeccable.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
