From the reviews
I've been at on the barre for 5 years now and it's incredible the dance teachers are so so so nice and friendly and it's a great time and we learn really awesome choreography!!
On the barre has made such a difference in my four year old daughter's behavior and confidence! Before starting ballet here, we were able to preview a class to make sure she would go in (she is slow to warm up). The teachers have continuously shown support, patience and care when she has tough moments.
I'm honestly mad at myself that I didn't start dancing here sooner. It's a very convenient location and all the teachers have been excellent, providing choreo that's approachable for multiple levels with modifications to take the intensity either up or down depending on ability. Really wonderful folks!
Such a great place with the kindest owners. Thank goodness there's a place like this out there, my daughter loves it and I do as well!
Your first barre class at On the Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
