From the reviews
I have been a member at Core Sport for 3 years now and it is hands down the best fitness studio in Santa Barbara. I have seen excellent results. Chanda has an exceptional ability to inspire and motivate you in a way that helps to get the best results from a workout.
Core Sport is unique in that you have all that you need: spinning, pilates both mat and reformer, specialty classes like barre, stretch, weights and bands, private and semi-private training, all in one place. Normally you would only find all that in a large, corporate gym.
I've always been an active person, yet hadn't found a passion for a workout routine since my high school volleyball days... until one day I stumbled upon Core Sport. The minute I met Chanda and her amazing crew of dedicated, inspiring instructors I was hooked.
I have tried many places but nothing compares to Core Sport. It has become my home. Chanda has created an incredible environment with a wide selection of classes, great instructors, and incredible clients who are supportive and kind. Core Sport brightens my day and helps me look and feel my best.
Your first barre class at Core Sport
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
