From the reviews
I am so happy The Barre Code opened in Tuscaloosa. It's exactly what I look for in a workout studio - a supportive and encouraging group of women and an incredibly challenging workout. You will feel welcome here no matter your experience level in barre.
I never thought of myself as a group fitness person but I gave it a try and fell in love. The Barre Code is an inclusive fitness studio that is full of women supporting other women.
To be honest I've never really been one for working out. Also, I am easily embarrassed so new workouts or new space can at times be intimidating if I feel I can't do it perfectly.
The Barre Code is great! I am a fitness person, always looking for a good workout and prefer group exercise settings. I am fortunate to have been involved in a very supportive/warm/welcoming gym family before ... but things change and people move on.
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
