From the reviews
Barre on Hudson is everything I look for in a workout space, welcoming, warm, and filled with an amazing sense of community. Every class feels supportive and uplifting. Katelyn is fantastic at what she does; her classes are challenging but never intimidating, and she makes the hard work feel fun.
I adore Barre on Hudson! The studio is warm and welcoming and the classes I take each week are always the highlight of my week. I have taken many of the classes they offer and honestly cannot pick a favorite.
I love Barre on Hudson! I feel like I have finally found a workout that I enjoy and a place that makes me feel comfortable and supported. Kaitlyn has such a passion for what she does, and she always strives to make her classes and her business better.
I have been seeing Rob from One on One Hudson (within Barre on Hudson) for 6 months. I have never strength trained before and he has taken me from 5 lb weights to 20 lb weights. He’s given me a love for strength training and all the tips to help me be able to continue the work successfully at home.
Your first barre class at Barre on Hudson
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
